90210 Returns!

The CW is releasing a spinoff of the popular 90’s phenomena 90210. The new take on Aaron Spelling’s teen-soap will again focus on a Beverly Hills family, according to Variety.com.  The Mills family moves to Beverly Hills with daughter, Annie and adopted son Dixon. Annie is the emo/theatre kid desperate to fit in with the “cool crowd.” Dixon (um, Dylan?) is a super-smart “bad boy” who has behavioral issues, good looks and a too-cool-for-the-universe attitude.

Fears rightly swirl around developing a spin-off to the beloved zip-code drama – after all, is it even possible to create a more deliciously bitchy cast than the first set of Hills girls?

Heather Mills Court Room Water Fight!

Yes, the Heather Mills/Paul McCartney divorce proceeding has finally come to an end! And what a finish! Mills claims she is satisfied with the $48.6 million settlement, yet her bizarre court room reaction tells another story. Mills allegedly poured water on McCartney’s lawyer after the proceedings concluded. The UK Daily Mirror reported “She was so angry, she tipped a glass of water over Fiona Shackleton's head, leaving her with soaking wet hair," one insider told the paper. "Everyone was stunned. That kind of behavior is just not acceptable."

Don’t worry Heather; we’re pretty sure $48.6 million will buy a lot of forgiveness.

Abe Lincoln goes Purple!

The U.S $5 bill got a makeover with a touch of the color purple! These new purplized bills will go into circulation on Thursday, March 14. The new design is the most recent release in a series of redesigned bills which are harder for counterfeiters to knock off. Don’t worry though! Abe Lincoln, the nation’s 16th President still appears on the front and the Lincoln Memorial remains on the back side. The most noticeable difference is the color according to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing who claims that “splashes of light purple at the center of the bill blend into gray near the edges.”

The Purplized will also be used on the $10, $20, and $50 bills, next up to be changed: the $100 bill!

Yankees Sign?.Billy Crystal?

To mark his 60th birthday, actor Billy Crystal will be signing a one-day, minor league contract with the New York Yankees to play on March 13 in an exhibition game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Despite the short-lived appearances of Michael Jordan and Garth Brooks on the field, Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig has given Crystal his blessing to play ball. Crystal has always been a lover of baseball and an avid Yankees fan; he will wear the uniform number 60 at the game on Thursday.

"I've been waiting 50 years for this call," Crystal said in a statement released by the team. "I'm overwhelmed by the generosity of the Yankees and Commissioner Selig. I know this'll be tougher than the Broadway Softball League, but I'm looking forward to helping the younger players, which by the way is all of them. Oops, I have to go Scott Boras is on the phone."

Boy Bands Reunite!

Has anyone else noticed the return of the boy bands? Will we be dusting off our 6-inch glossy photo pin of Joey McIntyre? In the past few weeks, announcements regarding boy-band reunions such as New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys have filtered, causing boy-band fans of the 90’s to emerge again.

The NKTOB crew’s news broke on the band's website, which had been dormant and is now back up and running in anticipation of the official announcement, which will be made in the next few weeks.

Backstreet Boys are back; seriously...well, in China.  The band will perform in China as part of the worldwide Unbreakable tour. The concerts will be the first mainstream Western pop concert in Nanjing and Hangzhou, and take place on March 4 in the prestigious Nanjing Olympic Arena and March 6 in Hangzhou Dragon Arena.

Happy Birthday Leap Year!

It is February 29th, 2008 which makes it Leap Day! Leap years, leap days and leaplings owe their existence to the strange way we keep time and plan our calendars. While we traditionally count a year as lasting 365 days, leap year consists of 366 days calendar days. In order to get rid of that pesky quarter-day (and make the scientific facts reconcile with our regular calendar) we add a day back onto the calendar every four years.

Usually, people born on a leap day simply choose to celebrate their birthdays on February 28 or March 1, 2008 will last 366 days; anyone born February 29, 2008 will have to wait until 2012 for their next true birthday.

Celebrating their seldom birthdays today are, Actor Alex Rocco is 18, real age 72, Actor Dennis Farina is 16, real age 64, Actor Antonio Sabato Jr. is 9, real age 36 and Ja Rule is 8, real age 32.

Happy Birthday Leaplings!

FOR SALE: NEVERLAND!

Ever want to own Neverland? Here’s your chance!

Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch is set to be auctioned off on March 19, 2008 if Jackson does not come up with the $24,525,906.61 owed on the property. The highest bidder receives the house and all of Jackson’s personal property.

Jackson has not been present at the estate since the summer of 2005, when he departed for Bahrain, in the Persian Gulf. No one currently lives on the property; the animals from the zoo are gone and the rides have been shut down. Fox News reports that financially, Jackson is in no position to cure his dilemma.

Barack Has Been Chosen!

Yes, you read it correct, the new Barack Obama has been selected and his name is Fred Armisen. Saturday Night Live! eagerly debuted their new Barack Obama, Fred Armisen on SNL's return from the writers strike. For those of you that saw Fred's impersonation of Barack the other night, for a white guy sure does resemble Barack!

Guest host and SNL alumna Tina Fey rocked it out during a hysterical spoof of the media's love of Barack and urged everyone to vote for Hillary Clinton, played impeccably by Amy Poehler. How did Fred do? Well, his impression of Obama was eerily, freakily, dead-on incredible.

Jared's 10 Year Subway Renunion!

Has it already been ten years for Subway spokesperson Jared?

10 years ago, Subway sandwiches introduced the dorky everyman Jared as its pitchman. Jared doesn't represent the classic hollywood looks that consumers generally aspire to, but Subway, seeking to promote itself as a healthy alternative to greasy fast food fare, saw Jared as an ideal vehicle for thier message. After all, the guy claimed to have lost 245 pounds, nearly the equivalent of one Michael Strahan, by going on a diet that consisted of a couple of subs a day.

Strahan, the fearsome defensive lineman from the Super Bowl champion New York Giants, is one of several sports celebrities to appear in a new campaign celebrating Jared's 10th anniversary as Subway's spokesman.Others include Philadelphia Phillies, Ryan Howard and San Antonio Spurs, Tony Parker. The campaign celebrating Jared's decade in the Subway spotlight is schedule to run throughout the year.
